The Bolgheri area in 2021 was characterized by a long dry period, which lasted from mid-May to the end of the harvest. The summer was mainly dry and windy, with warm but not excessively muggy temperatures. Thanks to the rainy winter, good water reserves were stored, useful for avoiding stress on the vines in the dry period. The harvest of the white and red grapes destined for the rosé began in the last week of August, thanks to an absolutely favorable climate for the perfect ripening of the berries which presented themselves for the harvest in excellent health conditions. At the beginning of September we harvested the best parcels of Vermentino, continuing with gradual ripening from Syrah to Merlot, continuing with the Cabernet until the last week of September. A significant temperature difference between night and day, especially at the beginning of September, made it possible to safeguard the acidity of the grapes and helped to preserve the aromatic components. The vinification gave birth to expressive whites and rosés, with good drinkability, and fragrant reds rich in flavor with an important polyphenolic component in the long aging. We can consider it a beautiful vintage, this 2021, characterized by fresh and mineral wines and at the same time full-bodied with elegant tannins and excellent persistence, fragrance and perfume.
